🟥 ORIGINAL AMERICAN WEAR

The Pro Street movement was ignited in 1972 when Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins debuted his iconic Chevrolet Vega, which featured massive 14-inch-wide drag slicks tucked into a groundbreaking tube-chassis frame. This "big tire" look was later commercialized for the road in 1982 by Mickey Thompson with the introduction of the Sportsman tire, the widest street-legal rubber ever produced at the time. These fat tires were essential not just for the aggressive, "planted" aesthetic, but to provide the necessary traction for high-horsepower drag engines to perform on ordinary asphalt.
